Indiana Massage Therapy Schools

from:

For the Midwesterner seeking a career in massage therapy, Indiana massage therapy schools can prepare you for a bright future. Indiana Massage Therapy Schools will enable you to acquire the skills you need for success, with classroom courses and plenty of hands-on clinical massage training.

Massage therapy schools provide expert training in the high-demand skills required by professional medical offices, hospitals, and health care facilities. You can work toward a certificate or diploma from a vocational school, trade school or community college; or you can enter into two-year Associate of Science (AS) degree programs offered by some community colleges and alternative healing schools. You may also find four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degree programs in some massage schools.

Massage courses usually will cover sciences, i.e., anatomy, physiology, pathology, nutrition, health, and hygiene, as well as theory and practice of massage, hydrotherapy, reflexology, and more. Some will even offer an education in accounting, marketing, managing, business ethics, and other business skills, for those intending to open an independent massage therapy business. Once graduation has been achieved, many massage students will begin an advanced, focused course of study that can lead to expertise in a specialized practice, such as acupuncture or chiropractics.

Indiana Massage Therapy Schools teach the necessary skills for treatment that can produce general relaxation to reduce stress and pain, as well as massage that promotes recovery from injury and general good health. Curriculums are designed to prepare graduates for entry-level positions as massage therapists in sports medicine, chiropractics, spas, fitness centers, sports organizations, health gyms, or in private practice.

The state of Indiana has not yet adopted any legislation regulating the practice of massage therapy, despite the fact that attempts to do so have been ongoing for nearly a decade! However, if you intend to enroll in one of the massage therapy schools in Indiana (or elsewhere, for that matter), you should make sure your school has been accredited by recognized state and national organizations. It is also helpful if your school is associated with massage therapy and bodywork organizations. Examples of desirable credentials you might find attached to a top massage school would be: Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and College of Technology (ACCSCT) and Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). Accreditation will assure you of a quality education, and an accredited school will openly and proudly discuss accreditation with you.
