Illinois Massage Therapy Schools

from:

If you are seeking a massage education somewhere in the Midwest, you will find a plethora of Illinois Massage Therapy Schools. You can choose from certificate and diploma programs that can prepare an aspiring massage therapist for a career in medical massage, wellness massage, or sports massage. Illinois Massage Therapy Schools can be found in vocational, trade, and technical schools, as well as community colleges and institutes in all regions of the state.

Many massage schools offer a comprehensive education in clinical massage therapy that can include clinical evaluation, medical massage, reflexology, shiatsu, stone therapy, sports massage, craniosacral massage, and myofascial release, among other techniques. Additional courses might include nutrition and lifestyle modification to achieve maximum health. Most massage therapy schools also offer workshops and seminars that allow practitioners to improve and expand their practices through continuing education courses. Once the massage education is completed, students will often decide to specialize in one or more advanced areas of natural healing, such as chiropractics or acupuncture.

Every massage therapy school has the option of requesting that their school be evaluated for accreditation by national and state organizations. Students will benefit from seeking out schools that are accredited for assurance of quality education and preparation for certification and licensure. Accredited massage schools will openly present their credentials and discuss options.

A state license is required to practice massage therapy in the state of Illinois. Massage therapists are required to have completed a 500-hour program from a good massage school, and to have passed competency examinations before applying for licensure. Massage therapy practitioners in Illinois may be subject to local city and county regulations, and they should contact local governments for rules and regulations before setting up a practice.
